SOUTH MILWAUKEE (WITI) — A standoff in South Milwaukee on Monday morning, September 8th ended peacefully.

It started around 9:00 a.m. at an apartment building near 5th Avenue and Sherman Avenue.

South Milwaukee police say the man was armed and suicidal.

A neighbor FOX6 News talked with says he went inside the man’s home for a favor, and noticed he was armed.

“He wasn’t giving up that firearm at all. I tried to get it from him like three times and he was like ‘no, no.’ He wouldn’t give it up and at that time I had no idea that all these cops were here,” Joseph Allen said.

The man was taken into custody around 2:30 p.m.
