Brown Deer barber shop stylists volunteer their time to help Milwaukee's Veterans Day Parade

BROWN DEER (WITI) -- A Brown Deer barber shop is helping to make sure the Milwaukee Veterans Day is fully funded.

Bradley Village Barbers volunteered their time on Sunday, September 14th. Usually, Sunday is a day off.

Stylists did haircuts for donations -- intended for "Honor Our Military Inc."

That group funds Milwaukee's Veterans Day Parade.

"I heard on FOX6 they they had lost two of their major funders for the Veterans Day Parade, so I asked Sam the owner and he said 'sure we'll open up on a Sunday when we are not normally open and we'll just raise funds for the Veterans Day Parade,'" stylist Linda Sawyer said.

The Veterans Day Parade was in danger of not taking place this year -- after two major corporate donors backed out at the last minute. The 2014 Veterans Day Parade was saved by the TransCanada Corporation -- contributing $20,000 towards the parade.
