Will Port Washington YMCA hit the auction block? More than $900K gathered in fundraising campaign

OZAUKEE COUNTY (WITI) -- Supporters of an Ozaukee County YMCA could find out Monday, September 22nd whether their facility will remain a "Y."

The Feith Family Ozaukee YMCA in Port Washington is one of four Y branches that will be sold as part of a bankruptcy filing. Its members have raised more than $900,000 so that the Kettle Moraine YMCA can take it over.

On Monday, they're expected to find out whether anyone else has placed a bid for the facility. If so, the facility will hit the auction block later this month.

A Kettle Moraine YMCA spokesperson issued this statement to FOX6 News:

"We cannot believe the community support that we have experienced.  Ozaukee County is blessed to have a YMCA and we can only hope that we are successful in the auction process so that we can continue to provide programming and membership to the residents just like they have received for the past 15 years.  To date we have surpassed $900,000 in fundraising which sends a clear message that the community wants it to remain a YMCA."
