Milwaukee police: Two taken into custody in connection with armed robbery

MILWAUKEE (WITI) --  District 5 officers from the Milwaukee Police Department arrested two armed robbery suspects after they saw the suspects running from the crime scene.

The officers were on patrol in the 1400 block of E. Capitol Drive around 11:00 p.m. on September 28th when they saw two males running southbound onto N. 15th Street.

Suspecting a crime had just taken place, the officers stopped and interviewed the suspects.

One of the suspects dropped a “Hello Kitty” wallet to the ground and a pink cellular phone was found in the grass where the other suspect was walking.

A dispatcher told the officers an armed robbery was committed a few minutes before in the 3900 block of N. 14th Street.

Officers talked to the 17-year-old female victim who said she was walking when two suspects approached her, put a metal object to the back of her head and stole her wallet and cell phone before they fled.

The items stolen matched the items recovered on the suspects.

The suspects are a 14-year-old Milwaukee male and a 20-year-old Milwaukee man.

The 20-year-old is a felon and was convicted of a burglary in 2013. He also has a current felony case open from a July 2014 incident in which he is charged with Driving or Operating a Vehicle Without Consent.

The Milwaukee Police Department will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
