ST. LOUIS (AP) — Several dozen people protesting the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown interrupted a performance of the St. Louis Symphony in a peaceful demonstration this weekend.

Michael Brown

Michael Brown

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that as the musicians were about to start performing a song Saturday night, the demonstrators began singing and unfurled from a balcony three banners related to Brown’s shooting in August by a Ferguson police officer.

The newspaper reports that the interruption was met with applause from some members of the audience and the symphony.

Symphony publicist Erika Ebsworth-Goold tells KMOX-TV and the Post-Dispatch that the protesters were ticketed members of the audience.

The protest ended with participants leaving voluntarily.

St. Louis Police say they received no calls about the demonstration.

No if I paid for a ticket to the theatre and I was told they were supporting any cause..then it would be my choice to go or not…I denounce brutality..of any kind…i denounce criminal activity of any kind.by blue..black.white red or yellow people…mr brown was a criminal..he was a theif..it remains to be decided by authorities..if the officer did anything wrong. A majority..of fergusen protesters.broke laws.looted and stole from their neighbors..hence have lost support..and any credibility..from most law abiding citizens…so I would be offended to be subjected.to anything connected with their cause…because they have gone ovet the edgen of civilized..activities. .what I have seen is mob mentality…out of control. .uncivilized..criminal..unbelievably horrific shameful behavior…only irresponsible..people behave like a bunchbof animals..

    • cityres

you could not afford to go to the Opera so you wouldn’t have to worry about it. now if it was duck dynasty live I would accept your comment as being legit but you’re just being a bigot

  • cityres

Here is the problem. It seems that alot of people who comment only do so when the crime is committed by a black person. There were numerous articles where a white person committed crimes including molestation but no comments from the regulars. I wonder why? As you would say…. where is the community outrage

  • diane

I am not a bigot. .you dont know..me..I attend theatre. .plays…etx..what does that have to do with anything…I have no sympathy for criminals..regardless of their skin tone. .evil comes in all colors…you dont see mobsb of white folk.looting. .blocking traffic..creating a public disturbance…having the national guard called in because you dont know how to act like a civilized..intelligent..human being….I work..pay more than my fair share in taxes..dont agree with thegovernment leadership…believe in a honest days handiwork..being self reliant.not depending on others..living by the ten commandments..and swlf responsibility…I have biracial relatives…friends and colleagues..that are like minded…if the officer did something wrong yes he should be held accountable…if not. And no charges are filed..what will these peeps..do except the decision like a bunch of adults…I doubt it…it will be blah blah. Loot loot..burn burn..etc..more of the same

    • cityres

I understand the spelling. Lol. If your not a bigot them explain your use of the word majority when speaking of the criminals that were looting during the protesting in Ferguson. See how I separated looters and protesters because they aren’t the same. Not one news outlet or police and/or city official has linked the two together nor have they said it was a majority. You choose to link them as if they were one. If you really followed the story you would know. If you live by the ten commandments then I assume you are a Christian. So where’s the compassion? An unarmed
Child was killed by someone paid to protect him. The police chief admits to lying about the video and the store clerk said they werre paid for and the video supports that. What makes you a bigot is that you can’t separate the criminals from the rest of the community when logic and math tell you that it is a small percentage committing crime

  • diane

Looked like a large crowd to me…and I saw the pics of mr brown flashing gang signs..he stole from rhe stores owner. Pushed a man in rhe video. .walked down the middle of street that had sidewalks…all legal in your world….I wont judge the officer others are taking care of that. ..so the looters weren’t protesting..what were they doing. .and teasing then officers goading..them on wanting a confrontation…clearly. ..so lets look at the young Hannah out east. .the Black man arrested.are white folk out protesting..blocking traffic..looting…burning ..keeping the police busy…

  • diane

I am just making a point that there are ways to get your message across..and keep your credibility..your integrity…and not shove it down peoples throats…I have no respect for the way the people. .have rioted..looted and acted like a bunch of animals….if I was part of a police force that.was anywhere near there I would quit and let them police themselves.who wants that thank less job anyway…who would want a business in.that area..where the very neighborhood. You serve robs you blind. …they haven’t done themselves any service. ..all negative attention…no compassion…they showed no.compassion..to their own neighborhood..or to any of the business owners involved…practice what you preach…

    • cityres

again that’s why I consider you a bigot because all you see is the looting and riot. You look past the majority of people in peaceful protest and speak as if it doesn’t exist. If the cause was not shoved down throats then there would be no USA, no civil rights and you wouldn’t be able to vote. Did you see the citizens protecting businesses during the riots? Even if he stole which the video doesn’t really support. It shows him paying and the other boy putting the rest back that MB handed to him. is that worth being shot. if it was your son or brother do you think he would deserve to be killed?

  • diane

Again you dont know me…and you are being juat as much a racists. .as you claim me to be…I am a law abiding citizen…are all laws fair..no…but it is what it is….but acting “tough” flashing gang sign..pushing people around. .stealing…looting..blockingstreets…threateningg officers.etc..again a grand jury will decide…and n perhaps..the officer will be charged. ..but then again..maybe not…if not are the people of fergusen going to act like mature adults..or like a bunch o hoodlams? …if he is charged..do you think his supporters..will take to the streets and riot…I dont think so they atr intelligent enough to let the law work..it isnt a perfect.system…but it works….hey if MB..did that in a Mideastern..country..he would have been executed. …for far less…racism exists. But blacks are as racist as whites. And more so…at times…

    • cityres

Again. You just don’t seem to understand. You might not consider your self a bigot but you continuously fail to separate law abiding citizens from the true thugs. You continuously make false claims about MB as well. There are no pictures showing MB throwing up gang signs at the beginning they had pictures that were proven
to be someone else. But that is beside the point. The point is a child or young adult or college student was killed because an officer couldn’t control himself. I understand yhat you won’t ever have to worry about being labeled a thug because of your color but it is something I take very seriously. As a black male I have to prove that I’m no threat because of people like you who place a label on whole communities. I bet never once have you heard someone saying people shouldn’t be punished for their crimes. Is it too much to ask that police be held accountable for their actions?

  • diane

Again u dont know me. U label me you are a racist also…update on news fergusen bracing for riots in case the. Officer is not charged. ..what a shame…we shall see if the officer is charged. .I doubt if they wilk prepare for riots..from the support ers of the officer…why is that….

    • cityres

and for the record I don’t believe he should spend the rest of his life in jail. it is a hazardous job all though one that you choose. he just shouldn’t be allowed to be a police officer anymore at the very least.

  • cityres

answer this question for me then. is rioting protesting the same thing? I view them as two separate acts. I would like to think that logic will tell you that you can’t be protesting and rioting at same time. rioting and looting are crimes committed by criminals. I nor anyone else that I know justified rioting and looting. so we can put that part to rest. I labeled you because not one time in any of your posts have you separated the two. I understand that you feel that the police officer was just doing his job and he was but his lack of control cost a human life a young life at that if he should have been condemned to death then the courts should have determined that. people in the community protested because it is in their best interest to protect their sons and brothers from stereotypes that label all black men dangerous criminals. if he committed murder you can believed there would be no protest but shoplifting does not justify murder and the police officer had no clue of that incident at that time per the captain of the police or chief have you. will the supporters of offender Wilson riot of course not. they have nothing personal at stake some of them are just there to support white and some of them are there cuz they legitamately care but they still have nothing personal at stake. so am i sorry if I offended you by calling you a bigot but you offend me when you generalize your comments so we’re even. but you can solve that problem by answering my first question and question I’ve been asking you in the last few posts.

  • diane

protestors out in the streets that then turn to overtaking the street then you see looting and teasing and antoginizing the police..so i have seen protesting turn into looting.. to me protesting is always peaceful, informative, respectful, does not disrupt, interrupt or impede on other peoples rights, so taking over a concert, disrupting making a show that was impolite and in poor taste…it made some people clearly uncomfortable and those people had nothing to do with what happened the only thing they did wrong was have light skin…and the streets of fergusen looked out of control to me night after night…makes one wonder did they have jobs, or a family to take care of… and what gave them the right to burn and loot and steal they were out there to cause a rukus…and see if they could get the police riled….counter productive…and shameful

  • diane

also after seeing all of that what person in their right mind would visit, drive through or even close to fergusen..I saw no person that looked remotefully trustworthy ..looked like a lawless bunch of people to me..who didn’t care what they did, who they robbed or who they hurt..sure makes one want to listen to what they had to say,,, and yes there are bad cops..just like there are priests that molested young children, just like the young men who robbed me…and my schoolmates who tormented me because of the color of my skin…I respect people who act respectful and intellgient.. people who work hard, live a good life, I don’t hang with criminals or thiefs, I beleive in God , and that everyone despite their skin pigment is given a chance..has a chance..some may have to work harder..but it doesn’t help the cause to steal, loot, sell drugs, have babies your can’t take care of expect everyone else to foot the bill.. have pride and respect for yourself and you reap what you sow…I love my freinds (african american, hispanic , oriental.. I love my biracial cousins…and enjoy their heritage.. so I am not a bigot, but I do expect people to act like responsible sensible, human beings…that have mutual respect for the law, you don’t have to agree about everything but learn how to act….in a civilized manner

    • cityres

Have one of your bi racial cousins or black friends read over these comments and give you their opinions on your thoughts. It seems to me that you have hard feeling about your past experiences which is is causing tunnel vision. But I can respect that. A few kids messed up your perception for life.

  • diane

no they were kids ion hish school adults stole the car and my purse….my cousins have been vistims of black on black crime and are republicans and denounce the looting disruption and lawlessness..will be interesting to see what transpires in st louis/fergusen over thuis weekend..the media shoul stay away.. the officials should watch the perimeter and let them do what destruction they want to their own neighborhood…sometimes you can’t tell people what to do or how to conduct themselves.. it would be safer for law enforcement to just step back and let them hurt themselves.. because they can’t serve and protect they are always in the wrong lately..If any of my loved ones were in law enforcement I would be so afraid

    • cityres

if it makes you feel any better I have been victimized by a black person. but I do not despise black people nor do I take it out on the black people that I have yet to meet. I have been victimized by white people as well. I don’t hate white people and I do not take it out on the way people that I don’t know. I have been victimized by the police. white and black. but I can’t say that I like them too much. they like to ride around in their cars instead of walking around the community they like to come after the situation is over harass the people that call the police. but not all of them they just need to reevaluate their processes and training. they need to get rid of of their police cars and buy houses in the community to stay like fireman. and by the way I will apologize for the criminals that made you a victim. the thing is I have seen many black people and white people commit crimes when they were young but turned out fine citizens when they matured up and got grown. so really I don’t think you’re a bigotyou just get too caught up in what you see on the news instead of trying to find out for yourself but I don’t really blame you it is society.

  • diane

Police would be much to vulnerable to walk around in a high risk community…who really wants that job anyway..it is a thankless one.. they put their lives on the line everyday they put on their uniform and badge..yes there are rogue /bad cops but there are criminals who hunt them like deer, and if you commit crimes when you are young and they are felonies..you forever limit your job opportunites so maybe their parents, clergy and mentors should pound that into their brains..you cant’ work in helath care, security , banking, anything secure..also employers have standards and have to be able to have insurabllity for use of vehicles, handling money, accounts etc..if you have been convicted of drug traffic ing, drunk driving, armed robbery, theft, assualt, domestic violence and on and on you might just end up working at a low paying job..that was their choice..society has standards.. yes people turn over a new leaf all the time..but you can’t erase your past only learn from it…I just don’t get all the disturbances..too me it is negative. shows no self control, does not make people respect you..shows you have nothing else to do… instead of civil disobedience..do something for your neighborhood, help MB’s family by supporting them so they can go to court, did he have kids, a family if so help those kids, teach the youth to respect societies “Norm” don’t walk in the street, be disrespectful to local businesses, don’t sdhoplft, respect your elders MB shoved that storeowner irregardless ..that is someones dad, brother, husband..that is what a “thug” does..they should protest the drug dealers.. the thieves amoung them..encorage the youth to go to school..obey laws, white black yellow we all have the same laws..my kids never stole anything I would have kicked their a**…they didn’t push people around..they open doors for elders, say please and thank you, Good Morning Sir Good morning Mam…I am not rich.. I worked hard and paid as i went…I have friends from all walks of life… If black males don’t want the sterotype than march against the ones that give you the bad name..protest that…doesn’t seem fair sometimes life isn’t

  • diane

sterotype = I am a blonde hence I am stupid..NOT….and I very well know that all african american males are not bad.. and I know there are many evil, sick, horrible excuses for human beings that are pale skinned..it is in the news everyday…the african american community needs to grab this issue..the way their “village” works..demand better from their youth..the parents of these youths..they are their own worst enemies.. they need to be self reliant..work hard..maybe harder..stop the dependency cycle on the government..make the family unit, clergy, community rise up and protest what is bringing them down..demand parents be responsible..demand kids get an education and be law abiding citizens, productive, responsible, have respect integrity compassion..love of self not of “things” zero tolerance for criminal activity. zero tolorence for having babies they can’t afford to take care of…morals, goals did i say self respect…somehow the african american community has to get their heart and head and wrap their arms around this…i think it is their only hope…

Google search police officers killed by guns. Not as many as you think. Google stop the violence rallies. These two things that people talk about but do not know the facts. Tons of law abiding black males apply for police officer jobs but it is hard to make it if you haven’t been to the military. If you can’t walk around the community as an officer then you shouldn’t be one. Even the stupid thugs are afraid of the police 9 out of 10 times. My question is why only focus on black people? I see zero outrage from you and most of the inner city’s toughest critics on other articles where the crime was committed by European Americans. Crimes like molestation and murder, Drugs and robbery. I was disappointed to hear you say go back to Africa in the other article. I’m going to assume that someone got you upset and I missed their comments. Surely we all have somewhere else to go back to if that is the case. Unless you are a blonde Indian.

both sides of my fanily, make me a second generation imigrant, both sets of grandparents came here as imigrants, from various places in europe, germany, scotland, russia, belguim, they learned english, became legal citizens, worked hard never went on government assistance one set of grandparents refused to even collect social security..they came here with nothing in the early to mid 1900’s, and made something of themselves…I said there are evil, people of all skin pigments…they also target law officials..they do drugs sell drugs and rob banks..you don’t see people in tosa marching in the street..when they believe they have been wronged by the police..what about the middle aged caucasion man beaten on video by the milwaukee police, there was outrage about that but there weren’t constant vigils, blocking of street ramps and disruption of meetings..there are ways of letting things handle themselves without doing things just to get on TV ..yes there are rougue cops..but everyday black on black crime, shootings, etc..why isn’t the community just tired of it, families and firends harbor these criminals at times, say oh they were such good kids with rap sheets a mile long,, when you start piling up a criminal record by the time you are 18 you pretty much have screwed up your life… even the military wont take you and you won’t get that firefighter or police officer job..you also have to graduate from high school..have a clean driving record..no felonies.. be able to pass test..at least to even have a shot at it..a diverse police force would be awesome but the black community has to grow and foster this climate of personal responsiblity..goal oriented life style, social responsibility and basic human morality..it starts at home…with zero t
olerance for bad behavior…parent involvement..self reliance…pride in living a good life..I was raised in a poor family we didn’t have new cars or new clothes..we shopped at good will.. we were raised to respect others, elders..our community..nothing was given to us and we didn’t grow up that we were oppressed.. we went to school..had summer jobs..paid our own way through college we were white we didn’t get any special programs..:}..we didn’t steal..I would be terrified to do anything wrong, come home late , even when I was 18 and living at home i HAD TO BE HOME BY 10PM ORii SLEPT ON THE PORCH.. AND THERE WAS HELL to pay the next day ps. I only came home late once…so all people need to take a long hard look, accept personal responsiblity .. take every opportunity at school.. know that what you do today will affect you in the future..and blame no one but yourself…being dependent on the government is like being a “slave” once people understand that being self suficient is truely being free!!!!

  • diane

I h ave learned much..but still believe that each of us needs to take responsiblity for our own actions, and behavior that will in the end determine the course of your life..I pray people wake up and I continue to pray that I can understand why people decide to destroy their lives when life itself is a precious gift..if indeed the officer is found to be charged so be it and the courts will decide accordingly everyone needs to respect that..but on the other hand if no charges are filed then the reaction should be the same…this is how our system works..it isn;’t perfect but all legal citizens have a vote..at a ballot box for their representatives. i am signing out out of this discussion.kudos and respect to you
