very sad pets and kids should be monitered..I hope the dog is put-down after the holding period..so tragic for the child I hope the child didn’t suffer :(

The dog should NOT be put down…..not the animal’s fault. Owners need to be more mindful and not leave ANY dog alone with children. I was chased relentlessly by a dachshund as a kid on my way home from school, so if that dog bit me it should have been put down. No matter how well a dog is trained, it can be spooked or put in a situation where it reacts by biting. My dog is not dog friendly and very protective of me and my fiancée, hence we keep him leashed when outside and tell people not to pet or approach him. he has never bitten anyone, because we know how he is. Parents need to be more careful.

Yes, it should. Regardless of if it was provoked or “raised wrong, ” once it’s killed someone, it’s a fact that the dog is a danger to have around. Common sense. I’m an animal lover, but their lives are not more important than human lives.

You’re a heartless idiot. Yes it is the animals fault! No dog should maul a human, period! When they do, they have lost the right to live. I hope to God that you are not a parent or I pray for your poor kids…

Yes, he needs to be put down. It’s one thing to bite a child. To maul a child to death however, is unacceptable behavior! The dog isn’t wired right.

You value a vicious dogs life more than a precious..child you need serious help…if a dog attacks and kills someone it needs to be put down end of story…it is a day care and a kennel…so I heard if that is correct…poor innocent child. …

I’m with you on this, the dog should NOT be put down. a dog should never be put in this situation. To be honest i know the people and i know the dog. I would take that dog in a HEARTBEAT he is a big baby. A dog should never be punished to death for something like this, the humans are at fault, all thought it was an accident. Accidents DO happen. And for those of you saying a human life is more important that a dog’s life you are lost in this world. Do you see what humans do to this world? Take and destroy. What do dogs do? Nothing BUT LOVE. Only people who have gained this knowledge will understand, for the rest of you that are under us and less important im sorry, maybe one day you will be on the same level.

I am surprised they didn’t release the type of dog. It must have been a lab or golden right? If it was a Pit Bull I am sure the fox national broadcast would have had cameras there to cover it.

This same tragedy happened to my family 4 years ago with my 4 year old niece. For all the ignorant comments, keep it to yourself. What does it matter about the breed of dog. This family’s world has been torn apart. My thoughts and prayers are with this family.

  • Trish

Nice language. Actually, you need to educate yourself. I don’t know what breed attacked this child, but if you’re going to bring up dog bite statistics, pit bulls beat out all other breeds for maulings (not bites, maulings….there is a difference) and killings hands down.

A HORRIFIC AND UNTHINKABLE TRAGEDY FOR THIS FAMILY. THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TO THEM AND THEIR LOVED ONES AFFECTED BY THIS TERRIBLE ATTACK. I GOTTA ASK THOUGH: HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE FOX6 AND OTHER LOCAL NEWS STATIONS AIR THE MOTHER’S “FRANTIC” 911 CALL AS HER CHILD BLED TO DEATH IN HER ARMS? C’MON FOX6: YOU KNOW YOU WANNA DO IT. IT’S SICK BUT MAKES FOR GOOD TELEVISION. RIGHT???

  • animalhouse

This breed has to go how many more deaths has to happen ?? Their evil rotten dogs and the advocates have lost touch with reality and should be ignored as lunatics as their scumbag dogs they care more about then humans wish they’d get the mauling instead of innocents

It makes me sad to read all these comments. Most everyone is talking about putting the dog down, and how it is such a bad breed,( when it is not even known what breed it was, nor does it matter), and bad mouthing each other, when all we should be thinking about is what the family is going through, and the responders who were at the scene, what they must have seen. Can’t we all just give our condolences to the family, and friends of this poor child, and hope the best for the people that were at the scene who tried so hard to save this little boy, and hope that the memories of that night will soon fade !!!!!

  • Krystal

What breed? Something “friendly”? Why wont they specify the breed? If it was an “aggressive” breed, they’d specify in a heartbeat
