Motorcyclist killed after fleeing deputy, crashing into power pole

DODGE CO. (WITI) -- A Horicon man died in a motorcycle crash late on Saturday, October 25th.

Officials say the motorcyclist failed to stop for a deputy and fled at a high rate of speed -- this, just before midnight. Less than a minute later, the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a power pole near the intersection of St. Helena Rd. and Fox Road. The motorcyclist was killed.

Dodge County Sheriff's officials have identified the motorcyclist as 22-year-old Jerred Gerlach. He was the sole occupant of the motorcycle.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
