"Are we in the Twilight Zone?" Drivers puzzled by truck after truck after truck

RICHMOND, Va. — A man and woman headed down a Virginia interstate thought they were in the “Twilight Zone” after witnessing an unusual sighting while driving on Saturday.

WTVR reported that Adam Hicks and his passenger were driving along Interstate 64 in Richmond when they suddenly felt they had been transported to another time and place because of what they saw coming in the opposite direction.

A seemingly endless convoy of semi-trailer trucks, with state police blocking any other vehicles from entering the highway, could be seen for several miles.

“We’ve seen at least 30 so far. Here’s a whole new set of trucks coming up,” Hicks said in the video.

“I want to re-iterate the interstate is blocked off. No incoming traffic,” said his passenger, identified on Facebook as Joyce Ord. “This is Interstate 64, Richmond. No idea what’s going on. This is getting more and more bizarre.”

So what was it? The World’s Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics.

The event was created to raise awareness and money for the Special Olympics.

Hicks posted the video of the unusual sight on his Facebook page, which has been shared more than 50,000 times. Several other people took to social media to report the strange sighting and ask what was going on.
