CHARGED: Convicted felon accused of stealing aluminum from two Racine County businesses

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- A convicted felon is charged in a case out of Racine County in which he's accused of burglarizing two Racine County businesses in June.

21-year-old Jesse Robinson faces two counts of burglary of a building or dwelling. Both are felony charges.

A criminal complaint filed against Robinson says on June 16th, police responded to the Waterford Aluminum Company for a burglary complaint. There, police spoke with an owner, who said she had reviewed surveillance video -- advising that there were two male subjects on the video seen removing aluminum jackets from the building. The company's owner also told police a drawer in the office was found to be open, and appeared to have been searched.

The complaint says an employee noticed a sawsall was missing, along with several aluminum jackets. That employee notified the owner.

The complaint indicates the stolen items totaled $2,700.

Two male subjects are seen in the surveillance video. One was seen wearing shiny shorts, a hooded sweatshirt and had medium-length dark hair. Another was seen wearing a full brim fishing hat, baggy jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. The second subject was observed to be skinny and taller than the first. The surveillance video showed two individuals load up a truck with aluminum jackets.

The criminal complaint says officials were able to obtain surveillance video that showed a truck at first headed toward the Waterford Aluminum business, and then later headed away from the business with a load.

The complaint says later in June, police were dispatched to that business that had provided the surveillance video: SRS Roofing and Sheet Metal Inc. for a report of a theft. Police met with an employee who said a dark-colored truck had entered their storage lot and two individuals removed approximately 40 sheets of painted bronze aluminum sheet metal in the raw form. Police were able to view surveillance video that showed this occurring.

The complaint says the aluminum sheet metal was valued at $6,832.

At the end of June, a police officer was doing surveillance near Waterford Aluminum and SRS Roofing, and observed what the officer believed to be the truck in question driving near the businesses.

In mid-July, the complaint says police were dispatched to Miller Compressing Company regarding a call about a man named Jesse Robinson dropping off 431 pounds of aluminum. Surveillance video showed Robinson unloading the aluminum from a truck and then standing by the pay window. A photo of the receipt given to Robinson shows he was paid $215 for the 431 pounds of aluminum.

The complaint says the owner of SRS Roofing was able to confirm the aluminum dropped off at Miller Compressing Company was the same sheets taken from his business.

The complaint says police spoke with Robinson and he said he remembered burglarizing Waterford Aluminum, and also confirmed he was at SRS Roofing and took aluminum from that business.

Jesse Robinson has an open case out of Waukesha County filed earlier this month for possession of narcotic drugs, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Another open case, filed in June out of Racine County, charges Robinson with operating while revoked.

He was charged with burglary of a building or dwelling and bail jumping out of Racine County back in July of 2012, and he pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to three years of probation.

Also in 2012, Robinson was convicted of three misdemeanor charges due to pleading guilty: possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and bail jumping. Robinson's sentence in that case involved two years of probation, but that probation was revoked in September of 2013, and Robinson was ordered to serve time.

In the latest case filed against him, Robinson has a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 6th.
