A holiday tradition is back! Get your hands on the 2014 We Energies Cookie Book
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- From grandma’s eggnog cookies to gingerbread men to cinnamon sticks, the newest edition of the We Energies Cookie Book is filled with holiday favorites. A special section also includes decadent chocolate recipes such as 5 pound fudge and chewy chocolate-chocolate chunk cookies. In all, 32 recipes are featured in this year’s book, including customer recipes for the third year in a row.
Signature distribution events are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Miller Park in Milwaukee and Timber Rattlers Stadium in Appleton. Customers are invited to enjoy hot cocoa, take a picture with Santa’s reindeer and pick up a free copy of the 2014 We Energies Cookie Book.
We Energies became Santa's helpers on Saturday, November 8th, distributing holiday cheer in the form of a Christmas cookie cook book -- and annual tradition that brings thousands of people to Miller Park.
The chilly winter air didn't keep thousands from lining up for this year's We Energies Cookie Book.
"We like the recipes in there, it's fun to make with the grand kids," said Greg Patz, first in line.
Patz made sure he and his grandson, Chris, were first in line -- 2 hours before the event started.
"Cause I wanted everything that they have here," said Chris Tomlinson, first in line.
They are the lucky 2 who will be the first to get their hands on this year's cookie book. There are 35 recipes in the book, some are customers originals.
"Oh geesh, it's kind of hard to pick they're all so good," said Patz.
The first We Energies Cookie Book came out back in 1928 -- a holiday tradition for more than 85 years.
"I think this is why you're seeing it. People just, our customers love it, they look forward to it every year," said Cathy Schulze, with We Energies.
And while these recipes can be downloaded online, if you don't come down to Miller Park, you miss out on all the holiday fun.
"We have hot coco so people can warm up, they get cookie books and they even get their picture taken with Santa's reindeer," said Schulze.
It's those adorable reindeer that brought Michelle Coan and her children back this year.
"We actually like to get our picture with the reindeer for the Christmas card," said Coan.
But they don't leave without their cookie book.
"I think it's just bringing the family together and getting ready for the holidays," said Coan.
It's a holiday tradition for all ages.
