Body of Town of Addison man recovered from pond

TOWN OF ADDISON (WITI) -- The body of an 87-year-old Town of Addison man was recovered from a pond on Saturday evening, November 1st.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office received a call just before 5:30 p.m. from a woman who reported she couldn't find her husband who left their home around 1:30 p.m. She also reported his tractor and trailer were next to a pond on the property and she feared he had fallen in.

A deputy arrived a short time later -- and he was quickly able to see something protruding from the water near the middle of the pond and located what appeared to be marks in the mud on the side of the pond consistent with someone slipping. The deputy radioed for the assistance of the Washington County Dive Team because the water was reported to be approximately 14 feet deep.

Just before 6:30 p.m., divers recovered the body of the 87-year-old man. The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time.

Fire departments from Slinger, St. Lawrence and Allenton responded for fire/rescue. Slinger and West Bend also responded for the dive operation along with members of the Washington County Dive Team.
