Brewers Community Foundation, Milwaukee Brewers reach $4M in fundraising for 2014

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Brewers Community Foundation along with the Milwaukee Brewers have eclipsed $4 million in fundraising during 2014, with support coming from Brewers ownership, community relations department, fans, players, wives and sponsors, and special events throughout the year.

Over the past five years, Brewers Community Foundation has generated more than $15 million to support local nonprofit organizations benefitting health, education, recreation and basic needs.

“We are very appreciative of the wide range of support that we receive from fans, players and others,” said Brewers Community Foundation Executive Director Cecelia Gore.  “The critical issues we impact support efforts to improve the quality of life in our community.”

Several events and initiatives that aided Brewers Community Foundation throughout the year included:

Brewers Community Foundation Week was a major success for the foundation’s fundraising goals.  BCF, along with the Leadership Council, raffled off player jerseys, hosted a scavenger hunt, held a carnival night and hosted an auction of unique Brewers-themed items to help build up the proceeds.  The Leadership Council is comprised of 10 corporate partners, including BMO Harris Bank, Delta Dental, Delzer Printing, Johnson Controls, Kapco, Lubar & Co., MillerCoors, Northwestern Mutual, West Bend Mutual Insurance Company and We Energies Foundation.

Another significant factor was the 50/50 raffle presented by Northwestern Mutual.  In comparison to last year, the raffle saw an increase of more than $600,000, totaling over $2.25 million in revenue in 2014.  In addition to the raffle, the Brewers Mini-Marathon & 10K, Presented by Sendik’s contributed significant donations to the MACC Fund.

Brewers Community Foundation benefitted many local organizations through their fundraising efforts. Youth organizations such as Restoring Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI), Beckum Stapleton Little League, Felix Mantilla Little League, Journey House and La Liga Cristiana all received grants from Brewers Community Foundation.  The Boys and Girls Club Milwaukee Chapter and the Sojourner Family Peace Center were beneficiaries of these philanthropic efforts.  In addition, 17 students received scholarships toward higher education in Wisconsin.

Through the Foundation, Mark and Debbie Attanasio continue their pledge to serve as leaders in the community.  Brewers Community Foundation harnesses the pride, passion and commitment of Brewers fans, players and other supporters to positively impact the lives of children and their families in Greater Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
