Kenosha police investigating homicide of 11-month-old child that occurred prior to fire at triplex



KENOSHA (WITI) -- Kenosha police tell FOX6 News they are investigating the homicide of an 11-month-old child. We're told the child's death occurred prior to a fire at a triplex near 50th Street and 21st Avenue in Kenosha on Tuesday evening, November 18th.

Kenosha police were called to the home for some sort of domestic violence situation. When they arrived, they located an injured 11-month-old child. Life-saving measures were initiated, and the child was taken to the hospital, where the child died.

After police arrived, we're told the home went up in flames.

Fire crews found smoke and flames showing from the triplex, and firefighters found an active fire inside the building. That fire is believed to have started in the basement, according to Kenosha police.

Police tell FOX6 News a suspect is in custody. He is being treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation.
