Badgers gearing up for Big Ten Championship game; will Wisconsin fans make the trip to Indy?

INDIANAPOLIS (WITI) -- It is a very big week for the Wisconsin Badgers! The team is headed to Indianapolis to face Ohio State University in the Big Ten Championship game. So how easy will it be for fans to get a ticket?

"It's easily the best tradition in college football. Winning the ax and chopping down the goal post!" Eric Maczka said.

Maczka is the Dean of Student Services at Bryant & Stratton's Bayshore campus. He's also president of the University of Wisconsin's Young Alumni-Milwaukee chapter.

He says on Monday, December 1st, after the Badgers clawed their way into the Big Ten Championship game, there was a flurry of emails and phone calls.

"The last time this happened was for the Final Four. Immediately after that game, everybody was like 'alright, are we going to really go' and then on Monday -- pull the trigger and things like that," Maczka said.

Maczka helps plan viewing parties for people who can't make the trip, but he says getting a ticket probably isn't the hard part.

"I think it will be pretty easy to get tickets but hotels might be a different story!" Maczka said.

"Right now even tickets as good as a Section 110, which is a quality lower level on the Badgers side can be had for only $150 to $175," Mike Holzberger with Connections Ticket Service said.

Holzberger says the cheap seats are around $80. He says he doesn't expect the game to sell out.

"It's that holiday time when people can't necessarily break to do everything they want to do. People are very excited about the game, but that doesn't mean a lot of them will be making the trip," Holzberger said.
