Can you help? MPD’s Homeless Outreach Team needs winter clothes for our city’s homeless

MILWAUKEE -- Winter is here and the Milwaukee Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Team (H.O.T.) wants to make sure the homeless stay warm this winter.

Officers from H.O.T. are asking the public to donate new or clean/ gently used winter hats, gloves, socks, blankets, etc. so they can distribute them to the homeless in our community.  Toiletries, sleeping bags, backpacks or other outdoor items are also welcome.

Donations will be accepted Tuesday, December 29th, at District One’s Municipal Court Entrance (951 N. James Lovell Street), District Three’s Lobby (2333 N. 49th Street), and District Six’s Lobby (3006 S. 27th Street) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

UPDATE: On New Year's Eve, Milwaukee police said MPD was at capacity for clothing storage for the Homeless Outreach Team. Anyone wishing to donate additional clothing items is asked to take those items to a local shelter or charity.
