$50,000 donation made to create memorial to veterans of all wars

OCONOMOWOC (WITI) -- A plan to improve a park in Oconomowoc honoring veterans got a big boost on Wednesday, December 17th.

Emil Ewald, Ewald Automotive Group Chairman and World War II veteran, presented the park's organizers a check for $50,000.

The park was dedicated in 1983. But it will not go through some significant changes to create a memorial to veterans of all wars.

Ewald says it's a change to add to the quality of life and educate younger people.

"They don't even know what Pearl Harbor was. They don't know much about Vietnam the Korean War and all of this history. And a project like this is going to enable in this area at least to educate them as we become involved," said Emil Ewald.

Groundbreaking at the park happened in November. Major construction is slated to start in spring 2015.
