Man wounded in gas station shootout released from hospital; incident ruled self-defense

MILWAUKEE (WITI) --  The 42-year-old man injured in the December 13th fatal shooting in the 4400 block of N. Green Bay Avenue has been released from the hospital.

According to police, officers responded to the scene around 11 a.m. after reports of gunfire. A 24-year-old Milwaukee man was declared dead at the scene. The 42-year-old  man was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Police say their investigation revealed that the 42-year-old man was being robbed and in the process fired shots, striking the 24-year-old man who died at the scene.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the matter on December 17th and ruled the incident as a justified self-defense homicide.
