Convicted felon with record dating back to 1996 arrested, accused of crashing vehicle into squad

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police say a convicted felon was arrested after crashing his vehicle into a squad car on Sunday, December 28th.

It happened near N. 32nd Street and W. Auer Avenue.

Police say citizens flagged officers down regarding a reckless vehicle around 8:15 p.m.

The suspect vehicle made a U-turn on N. 32nd Street, and as it approached the squad car, the suspect intentionally rammed into it.

Officers were able to take the 52-year-old Racine County man into custody.

Two officers -- a 32-year-old man with 13 years of service and a 31-year-old man with five years of service were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate what led to the suspect's actions. It’s believed the suspect was involved in an earlier incident Sunday in the 3400 block of W. Fond du Lac Avenue where he tried to intentionally run over a pedestrian.

Police say he is a convicted felon with a criminal record dating back to 1996.

Milwaukee police will present charges to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
