Ozaukee County Sheriff Maury Straub set to retire on January 5th

OZAUKEE COUNTY (WITI) -- Ozaukee County Sheriff's officials say Sheriff Maury Straub is set to retire as of January 5th, 2015.

Sheriff Straub is the longest running Sheriff in Ozaukee County history. He's served as sheriff for over 18 years, and he has 40 years with the department.

Raised in the city of Milwaukee, he attended both UW- LaCrosse and UW – Milwaukee before entering law enforcement with the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office in 1975.

Sheriff Straub worked as a deputy Sheriff for 21 years, serving in the capacity of radio operator – jailer, patrol deputy, detective, and lieutenant shift commander, before being elected to sheriff in 1996.

Currently, Sheriff Straub serves as the District 9 Director of the Badger State Sheriff’s Association and is the past president of the Wisconsin Sheriff’s & Deputy Sheriff’s Association.

Sheriff Straub lives in Port Washington with his wife Joellen.
