43-year-old woman in custody after high-speed pursuit in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) -- A Wisconsin State Patrol sergeant says a 43-year-old woman was arrested after a high-speed pursuit Thursday afternoon, January 7th in Washington County.

It began around 4:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 41/45 in Washington County.

The State Patrol says a vehicle being driven by a 43-year-old woman was being investigated by the Kewaskum Police Department as a stolen vehicle.

Initially, an unmarked Washington County Sheriff's squad began following the woman's vehicle. A West Bend police officer following the vehicle as it was passing through the West Bend area activated its lights and sirens while following.

A Wisconsin State Patrol vehicle joined the pursuit at Pleasant Valley Road in West Bend.

We're told speeds reached up to 80 miles-per-hour and a spike strip was deployed near Jackson to try to stop the vehicle. That was unsuccessful, so Germantown police officers deployed a spike strip in Highway 41/45 near Lannon Road -- and that was successful. A tire was shredded, and the 43-year-old woman pulled over.

The pursuit ended just before 5:00 p.m.

Officials were able to take the woman into custody, and no one was injured.

The driver was arrested on charges of eluding police. She could face charges in connection with the stolen vehicle.
