UW Green Bay shoots past UW Milwaukee 79-63

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Keifer Sykes tied his career high with 34 points on Friday night and Green Bay beat Milwaukee 79-63.

Sykes outscored Milwaukee 22-19 in the first 16 minutes including a stretch of eight straight field goals. Green Bay (13-3, 2-0 Horizon League) completed a 21-2 run to lead 42-19 and held 47-27 at the break.

Sykes tied the mark he set on Jan. 12, 2014 at Milwaukee (5-12, 0-3). He finished 5 for 7 from 3-point range and 13 for 20 from the field. Greg Mays added 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Carrington Love scored 15.

Milwaukee battled as close as 67-56 but couldn't get within single digits as the Phoenix pulled away with an 8-2 run.

Steve McWhorter scored 21 and Akeem Springs 18 to lead the Panthers. Matt Tiby added 13 points and 11 rebounds and J.J. Panoske scored 10.
