Long awaited reunion: Little girl finally meets firefighters who saved her life

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It's the kind of reunion that doesn't happen very often. A little girl who nearly lost her life finally meets the men who saved it.

It's not often we get a second chance at a first impression. You'd have to go back 8 months when Mahogany Carson met the guys at Engine 30 for the first time -- only she doesn't remember a thing. But everyone else does.

"When they are in a situation she is in, they almost never make it," said John Johnson, firefighter.

Mahogany's mother says she was about to have breakfast when she collapsed and stopped breathing. Mahogany was slipping away.

"She wasn't breathing, she had no pulse," said Johnson.

When patients reach that point, they almost never come back -- but Mahogany did.

Her lowest point was their finest and 8 months later she finally gets to say thank you.

A pizza party in her honor is just one-of-a-lifetime of moments she's about to have. Even though she wasn't awake, her first impression was actually a good one!

Showing the crew at Engine 30 just what kind of person she is, a fighter.

Mahoganey's mother says doctors could never say what exactly caused her to collapse last year. A friend of the family who is actually on the fire department helped arrange Saturday's reunion.
