"By rule, not a catch!" Packers fans talk about referee reversal of Dez Bryant's leaping "catch"

GREEN BAY/MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Some say it was a catch, but it was ruled incomplete. Cowboys' wide receiver Dez Bryant's leaping catch at the Packers 1 on fourth-and-2 was reversed by referee Gene Steratore after Green Bay challenged during Sunday's divisional championship game at Lambeau Field. One day later, football fans were still abuzz about the referee's reversal that helped the Packers secure their 26-21 victory.

"All the customers wanna ask me 'was it a catch?!' It wasn't a catch. It touched the ground. It popped out. Get over it you cry-baby!" Joe Forsythe with Evolution Milwaukee said.

Forsythe, the kitchen manager at Evolution on East Chicago Street in Milwaukee, and also a particularly passionate Packers fan says the referees were right in reversing their ruling on Bryant's reception -- rendering it an incomplete.

"They throw the ball on fourth-and-2. If they would've ran it, they probably would've picked up the first and won the game -- so uh, thank you Jason Garrett!" Forsythe said.

FOX6 cameras caught the celebration at Evolution following the reversal Sunday, and on Monday, it seemed as though everyone at Evolution was serving up a shared sentiment.

"I thought it was great. I mean, obviously it got overturned because the ball hit the ground. By rule, not a catch," a Packers fan at Evolution Monday said.

"There would've been a lot of expletives being yelled and we would've been really mad if it was our team," Kelsey Cadogan said.

But it wasn't!

"After I watched the reviews and the plays and heard all the rules, I felt like, you know, they made a good call and those are the rules. It's a tough call and it has to be made," Cadogan said.

Unlike the would-be catch, which the receiver some have called "Diva Dez Bryant" couldn't come up with.

"They're talking about how he's all selfish and he's a loner and a bad attitude and the game ended with him being a cry-baby on the sideline," a Packers fan said.

Evolution's bartender says this particular play proved pretty profitable for Evolution because it was pivotal in preserving the Packers' lead, and that kept patrons coming to the bar for drinks to celebrate.

"Everyone move on. Sorry Cowgirls!" Forsythe said.
