Sheriff: Mother shot along with her two sons in southwestern Wisconsin has died

LANCASTER (AP) — Authorities say a mother who was shot along with her two sons in a southwestern Wisconsin village earlier this month has died.

Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman said Tuesday, January 13th that his office has been told by UW Hospital that Morgan Slaight has died from her injuries.

Slaight and her eight-year-old son, Joseph, were critically wounded in the shootings January 2nd in the village of Monfort. Another son, six-year-old Jaxon Slaight, was killed. All three were shot in the head with a .22-caliber pistol.

Dreckman says his office continues to investigate and has not determined what happened.

Slaight and two of her children had been living with her sister in Montfort, a community of about 700. The sheriff has said she was estranged from her husband, who is living in Oklahoma.
