BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON (WITI) — The city manager of the City of Bainbridge Island in Kitsap County, Washington has issued an executive order banning cheese possession and consumption ahead of the big Green Bay Packers playoff matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

Cheese possession and consumption will be banned Friday, January 16th.

Below is the executive order issued by City Manager Douglas Schulze:

By the authority vested in me as City Manager of the City of Bainbridge Island, Kitsap County, Washington, by the Revised Code of Washington and the Bainbridge Island Municipal Code, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1.  All executive branch departments and divisions of the Local Government shall authorize employees to celebrate Blue Friday on each Friday prior to any games of the Seattle Seahawks by wearing Seahawks jerseys, logo gear, team colors and gathering at lunch or breaks for tailgating type foods and non-alcoholic beverages.

Section 2. On Sunday, January 18, 2015, the Seattle Seahawks opponent in the NFC Championship game will be the Green Bay Packers, a.k.a. Cheeseheads. Fans of the Green Bay Packers are frequently seen wearing obnoxious wedge-shaped foam hats painted yellow.

Section 3. Due to the relationship between the Green Bay Packers, their fans, and cheese, the possession of and/or consumption of cheese or cheese flavored products shall be banned in Bainbridge Island City Hall on Friday, January 16, 2015.

Section 4. The Director of each Department shall take such actions as may be necessary to implement this order.

Section 5. General Provisions.  (a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

(i)                The authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

(ii)              The functions of the Director of any Department, or the head thereof; or

(b)             This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

(c)              This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the City of Bainbridge Island, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

I used to think Bainbridge Island was a nice little place worth the ferry ride across the sound.

But seriously, I was out there for the kickoff game, and 99% of the fans were completely awesome! The worst fans I met were either obnoxiously drunk, or were Chicago Bears fans (no lie). Good luck on Sunday, it should be a great game.

OKAY PACKER NATION… YOU KNOW THAT LITTLE TOWN IN WASHINGTON THAT’S BANNING (AT THEIR CITY HALL) ALL CHEESE AND THINGS MADE IN WISCONSIN? WELL I SAY WE BOYCOTT STARBUCK’S!!!! THAT’S RIGHT FOLKS STARBUCKS IS A SEATTLE, WA OWNED COMPANY!!!! ONE DAY NO STARBUCKS? CAN WE DO IT? YES WE CAN!!!! LET’S DO THIS AND GET THE WORD OUT!

First off turn off your caps lock key, it’s really annoying and no one will take you seriously. And second off by boycotting local Starbucks you are not really “Hurting” the Seattle-based company pretty much at all (They have millions and your cup of coffee doesn’t really mean all that much to them).. you’ll more likely be hurting the local minimum-wage employees that work there if anything, because they rely on tips from customers as part of their wages. So ya, lets hurt some local Wisconsin businesses because of some stupid football rivalry nonsense. You fans are really DERP aren’t ya?

Pretty extreme. You must be superstitious. I don’t think I’d want a person of your type here in Wisconsin. Oh yes, and GO PACK!! Cheese heads will be tossing the cheese to the Hawks to snack on after we take the title there.

Apparently other Fox stations picked this story up, left out or changed more details and made it seem like it was a Presidential ban on ALL cheese from Wisconsin, including all of that “Government Surplus Cheese” that apparently has been sitting around for 15 years somewhere.

“packers “refers to the meat packers of Green Bay, thats who we named them after.
Cheese heads refers to our state being the Dairyland of the USA.
Many of Hawks team coaches and players are/were from WI who have led them to victories.
And I would like to know where you were Mr City man when all the hawkfans sold out their season tickets and cheifs and raidesr fans took over the stadium and flew thier flags!!!!!!!!!!! I was still there for the Hawks, crying. The Packer fans would never allow that to happen to their team.
Just as long as the Hawks are winning right? I find you all are fickle fans. Far weather, if the Packers win today let see how well you continue supporting the Seahawks! Just like your daddies did.O, and by the way there were no 12 jerseys or flags back in ’86-when the new stadium was built. that all is market driven and kids your flying right into their net! $$$$$$$$$$
Just a Wi girl living in a WA world 45years
