New details: Massive fall at mall leaves Silver Lake man with serious injuries

GLENDALE (WITI) -- There's new information about a tragedy at the Bayshore Town Center that happened Monday evening, January 12th. A 21-year-old man is hospitalized with serious injuries after falling 20 feet from a second floor.

The calls about the incident came in from distressed witnesses Monday evening. They saw the Silver Lake man fall over a railing at the mall. Police say Dustin Strzelecki was critically injured.

Surveillance video is difficult to watch -- especially knowing the flood of the Bayshore rotunda is where a young man would land. Some witnesses just remember a quick flash and a loud bang. Witnesses say Strzelecki was having a good time after a party with about 30 people at the iPic Theaters and Restaurant. The next minute he would be unconscious after the massive fall.

One witness say after he finished a game of bowling, he saw Strzelecki fall backwards off of the railing. Another said he watched as Strzelecki attempted to slide down the second floor railing of the stairwell, then saw him falling backwards over the railing.

Immediately others in the mall came to help -- but many didn't know what to do in a situation such as this.

Rescue workers quickly arrived, as did Flight for Life. Witnesses told Glendale police they didn't notice the young man was acting out of the ordinary or intoxicated at the time. However, one witness did say they believed he had four to six Long Island iced teas at the party. That was after the group left another gathering on Milwaukee's east side.
