BUSTED: Waukesha police arrest man who shot, killed Citgo gas station clerk

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Police have arrested one of the suspects involved in a fatal shooting that occurred at a Citgo gas station in Waukesha on Tuesday, January 13th.

Police say 19-year-old convicted felon, Kenneth Thomas, was arrested in West Allis less than 10 hours after the shooting.

Thomas was responsible for firing the shot that killed 65-year-old Saeed Sharwani from Brookfield.

Investigators believe that Thomas and his accomplices were involved in at least six robberies in four jurisdictions. Their crime spree touched the communities of West Allis, Milwaukee, Town of Brookfield and the city of Waukesha.

On the surface, life appears pretty normal at the Citgo gas station in Waukesha. But get a little closer, and you start to see the grief and even rage that are simmering after an armed robbery left a station attendant dead.

"There's just no excuse for that kind of thing. It's so senseless," said Thom Petri, regular gas station customer.

Memorial posters are plastered on pumps and windows asking for prayers for Sharwani's family.

Police say in addition to the two male subjects that entered the Citgo gas station to commit the armed robbery and subsequent homicide, there was also a female get-away driver.

Waukesha police identified the driver as 23-year-old Jerica Cotton and she is now in police custody.

News that two of suspects are now in custody brought some solace to those who regularly stop at the Citgo gas station.

"I'm glad they caught two of them. I don't think the third one can be far behind if they've got two of them and like I said I hope they lock them up forever they don't deserve to walk free," said Petri.

Authorities are still searching for the second male suspect involved -- they've identified that suspect as 28-year-old Darrin Malone. Malone has known ties to Waukesha.

The owner of the Citgo gas station in Waukesha has offered up to a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of Malone.

Malone should be considered armed and extremely dangerous -- anyone with information regarding his whereabouts are asked to call the Waukesha Police Department at 262-524-3820.
