After a devastating Packers loss, Brad Hicks found something bigger than football outside CenturyLink Field

SEATTLE (WITI) -- Some Green Bay Packers fans were making plans for a trip to Phoenix for the Super Bowl when the Packers implosion at CenturyLink Field began Sunday, January 18th -- and the disappointment for many was just too much to handle. From Seattle to Milwaukee to Green Bay, Packers fans were devastated to see the season end at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks.

For much of Sunday afternoon, it seemed like the Packers had this one in the bag.

FOX6's Brad Hicks reports there was a moment Sunday inside the very loud CenturyLink Field when you could actually hear Packers fans chanting "Go Pack Go" -- drowning out Seahawks fans.

Packers players on the sidelines were seen egging their fans on.

It was the creshendo of the afternoon. And then everything fell apart.

Many Packers fans were left feeling both heartbroken and sick to their stomach after watching the green and gold lose to the Seahawks in overtime -- but after the game, our Brad Hicks found something much bigger than football.

Among the crowd of fans streaming out of CenturyLink Field following the Seahawks' victory Sunday, Brad Hicks found some friendships that come before football: fraternity brothers who made the trip from Tennessee.

"This is the best game we were ever going to see. Packers and Seahawks," one of the fraternity brothers said.

One of the fraternity brothers is a Seahawks' fan, while the other three -- big fans of the green and gold.

They say even after Sunday's game, they're still friends.

"We're frenemies," one of the fraternity brothers said.

Anthony and Mark

Cheesehead Anthony's best friend, 12th Man Mark bought the tickets for Sunday's game and said "hey, come on up from Portland!"

"We're going to have a little food, have a little drink, and celebrate the Seahawks' win. Boy, it hurts to say that!" Anthony said.

One Seahawks fan was lucky he went to the game with his green and gold sister.

"She actually kept me at the game. I was going to leave," the Seahawks fans said.

"He wanted to leave, and I'm like 'you're not leaving until the fat lady sings,'" his sister said.

A Seahawks fan and a Packers fan -- boyfriend and girlfriend were still holding hands as they walked out of CenturyLink Field.

"It's going to be a long ride home!" the Packers fan said.

The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are headed back to the big game.
