“We are grateful:" Salvation Army surpasses Red Kettle campaign goal

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County surpassed its Annual Red Kettle Campaign goal of $3.8 million dollars, receiving generous donations totaling $4,021,422 million dollars.

In a news release issued on Wednesday, January 21st ,  Major Dan Jennings, Salvation Army Divisional Commander for Wisconsin and Upper Michigan said,“We are grateful for the giving hearts of so many Milwaukeeans donating $4,021,422 to help The Salvation Army surpass it’s $3.8M 2014 Red Kettle Christmas Campaign goal, thank you Milwaukee for your generous support."

According to a release, eighty-four cents of every dollar donated is used to sustain 85 distinct year-round programs and services -- including emergency shelter, food and clothing, disaster relief, utility and rent assistance, employment services and summer lunch programs for children,
