"Somebody got really lucky:" Car ends up stuck in building after collision with SUV

MILWAUKEE (WITI) --  Milwaukee fire officials say nobody was hurt after two vehicles collided — and then one of the vehicle’s crashed into a building. All of this happened near Howard and Clement on the city’s south side Thursday morning, January 21st.

It started just like any other morning for the attendant working at a gas station near the scene of the accident.

"I was talking to one of my customers and we were just doing a transaction and all of a sudden we heard a big boom, like a big noise as if like somebody ran into my building," said Faisal Bhimani, works across the street from accident.

Bhimani was half right, but the collision was not quite as close as he thought.

"I walked out of the store and we saw a car into a building across the street," said Bhimani.

According to police, the driver of a northbound silver SUV thought he had a green light, when he did not. He T-boned a black car traveling west, sending that black car into the building.

"Fortunately no one got hurt today, so the driver walked away he's standing talking to police now so he got pretty lucky nobody was in the building in this particular area, and he was able to walk away with a couple of scratches -- so somebody got really lucky today," said Lieutenant Christopher Mancuso, with the Milwaukee Fire Department.

No one was arrested, though the driver of the SUV walked away with two citations -- one for disregarding a traffic signal and a second for not having insurance.
