MADACC hosts adoption special to find homes for "Muffin's Baker's Dozen"

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- He's nearly 70 pounds of muscle and love.

"I've heard Muffin referred to as a charmer of ladies so he is very charming," says MADACC Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator Kathy Shillinglaw.

But people visiting the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission, or MADACC, keep looking past him.

That's why MADACC decided to host a special promotion called "Muffin's Baker's Dozen."

"Muffin is one of our dogs that has been here for a really long time and because adoptions typically slow in January we really wanted to do something to get adoptions moving," said Shillinglaw.

Muffin and 12 of his closest pit bull terrier friends are now up for adoption for just $13.

An additional $12 licensing fee is required for Milwaukee County residents.

All of the dogs have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and are up to date on vaccines.

They've also been temperament tested to make sure they'll fit in well with adopting families.

"They typically are the type of dog who needs a home that wants to participate with them. They want to walk them, they want to play with them, because pit bull terrier mixes more than anything else they want to be a part of your family," said Shillinglaw.

As MADACC brings in 11,000 - 12,000 animals a year, making one of these dogs your new best friend will make a big difference.

"It makes us all so happy when we see someone a really great family come in and take one of our guys home," said Shillinglaw.
