Racine County one of the hardest hit by latest winter storm

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- Racine County was one of the hardest hit areas by the latest winter storm -- and plowing crews have been working around the clock to keep roadways open, county officials say.

City of Racine Department of Public Works and Parks Department crews are removing snow from arterial and local streets, alleys and sidewalks at city facilities, and will continue to do so through Tuesday morning, February 3rd.

All arterial streets have been plowed and will receive additional plowing and salting today and again this evening. All local streets have received at least two passes by a snow plow, and are scheduled to receive additional passes this afternoon and early Tuesday morning if needed, according to the Racine Department of Public Works.

Salting and snow removal operations started at 10 p.m. Saturday, January 31st and have continued non-stop. At the height of the storm, DPW had 48 pieces of equipment deployed on city streets and the Parks Department had 12 pieces of equipment clearing snow from alleys and sidewalks.
