Delta flight headed to Atlanta forced to return to Mitchell Airport after experiencing mechanical issue

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Delta flight had to return to General Mitchell International Airport Tuesday afternoon, February 3rd after experiencing a mechanical issue during takeoff, a Delta Air Lines spokeswoman tells FOX6 News.

Delta Flight 1052 was headed to Atlanta from Milwaukee.

The mechanical issue involved one of the aircraft's two engines.

The Delta Airlines spokeswoman says the flight crew followed procedures and returned the Boeing MD-88 aircraft to Milwaukee. It landed safely at Mitchell Airport.

Passengers on board the flight were being re-booked on other flights.

Delta Flight 1052 was originally scheduled to leave around 2:00 p.m. The came back and landed at Mitchell Airport before 3:00 p.m.
