MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Heroin Task Force, and various other law enforcement partners recently seized a large quantity of heroin, other drugs, handguns, and cash that ended with the arrest and charges against a 46-year-old Milwaukee man, Brinkley Bridges.

Milwaukee police along with federal and state agencies, worked on this investigation. At least one of the veteran officers involved says this is the largest amount of heroin he's seen in one place at one time.

Officers executed simultaneous search warrants at two Milwaukee homes on January 29th, one near 60th and Clarke and the other near 44th and Villard. Between the two homes, officers seized nearly 3,000 grams of heroin, 23 grams of cocaine, and 421 grams of THC. Officers also seized more than $30,000 in cash and two loaded handguns. The street value of the heroin alone is in excess of $585,000.

"In my 24 years with the Milwaukee Police Department, this is the largest amount of heroin in one location," said Milwaukee Police Department Captain Jason Smith.

Police are calling the bust a big victory.

"It has a large impact on any one drug, in this case, heroin, to that local area," said Smith.

On Tuesday, February 3rd, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office charged Bridges with several crimes in relation to the two seizures. He is charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and three counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance.

If convicted, Bridges could face more than 90 years in prison.
