Two taken into custody after crashing stolen vehicle; third suspect sought

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Two suspects fleeing from Milwaukee Police officers in a stolen car have been taken into custody by Milwaukee police.

According to police, the suspects were driving a 2004 Ford Escape that had been stolen during an armed robbery on February 4th in the 1200 block of S. 32nd Street.  Officers from District 2 saw the vehicle near S. 25th Street and W. Greenfield Avenue just before 10:00 p.m. on February 5th and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle sped away but lost control and struck a snowbank a short time later near S. 27th Street and W. Lapham Street.

Two of the three suspects inside the car were arrested after a short foot chase. MPD continues its search for the third suspect. The suspects arrested are a 15-year-old male and a 21-year-old man, both from Milwaukee. It’s believed these two suspects are part of a group responsible for a dozen or more armed robberies in the past few days in both Milwaukee and outside jurisdictions.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
