Polar Plunge for Special Olympics: Wisconsinites with warm hearts get cold for a good cause

MUSKEGO (WITI) -- Wisconsinites with warm hearts got cold for a good cause on Sunday, February 8th. Some brave souls stripped down -- or dressed up for a "Polar Plunge" in Muskego.

Each "polar plunger" had to raise at least $75 to jump in the icy cold water at Muskego County Park.

All of the money raised benefits local Special Olympics athletes.

This Polar Plunge will take place at 13 other locations across Wisconsin this year.

"It's actually very exhilarating, It's pins and needles initially, but you feel great the rest of the day. It's for such a great cause so why not do it?" Special Olympics Director of Development Julie Drake said.

More than 300 people jumped in last year's Polar Plunge, raising more than $91,000.
