Fire crews respond to house fire in Racine

RACINE (WITI) -- Authorities responded to a house fire near 13th Street and Grande Ave. in Racine.

The fire was called in at approximately at 6:05 p.m. on Friday, February 13th.

There have been no injuries reported.

Police say one person and a dog were inside of the home at the time of the fire. They managed to make it out of the home safely.

Crews say one of the fire hydrants near the home didn't work, so the fire department had to use another fire hydrant about a block away from the home.

Fire officials think that a wood-burning stove is what caused the fire.

The fire department does not know if the house will end up being a total loss or not.

According to police, a city bus has been called to the scene as a place to keep displaced residents warm.

There is no word yet on how many residents have been affected by the fire so far.
