Milwaukee Bucks' Larry Sanders released from team

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- After months of problems on and off the court, the tumultuous relationship between the Milwaukee Bucks and center Larry Sanders, has officially come to an end. The team announced his release on Saturday, February 21st.

Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond said Saturday:

"We believe this decision is in the best interest of our team. We wish Larry well and remain excited about the future of the Bucks organization."

Sanders played in only 27 games for the Bucks this season before leaving the team for personal reasons.

During that hiatus, he also served a drug related suspension.

Before last season, Sanders had been signed to a contract extension worth $44 million.

According to multiple reports, they'll end up paying him a little less than half that in their agreement to part ways.
