TEXAS (WITI) -- "Somebody didn't put any truth my warning. Keep your (expletive) dogs on your property."

That was the caption posted to Facebook with a very graphic and disturbing photo showing two dogs lying dead in a yard. A Texas firefighter is accused of shooting and killing the dogs. The Facebook post has created an uproar on social media.

Tim Conatser is a volunteer firefighter with Union Valley Fire Department in Royse City, Texas, KNUE.com reports. Facebook user Kimberly Jones uploaded a screenshot of the photo allegedly posted by Conatser to Facebook. That screenshot has been shared more than 62,000 times in less than a day.

The Union Valley Fire Department has issued this statement to KNUE.com:

"As previously stated, we do not condone the recent actions of one of our firefighters. We are following our policy in removing him from our department. This is now a civil/criminal matter that we have no jurisdiction over. Please forward all concerns to local law enforcement and/or the SPCA."

CBS 11 in Dallas reportedly spoke with Kevin Forester, who is a family friend of Conatser. Forester told CBS 11 Conatser found the dogs in his barn attacking his calf, and he recognized the dogs as belonging to his neighbor.

"(Contaser) told him to please, you know, keep 'em at home, put 'em on a leash, build a fence -- do something," Forester told CBS 11.

The Hunt County Herald Banner is reporting an investigation is underway -- saying the SPCA is working with authorities.
