(WITI) -- Did you know that February is American Heart Month? Dr. Brian Nelson, a cardiologist with the Waukesha Heart Institute, joins Real Milwaukee to have a heart to heart about the most important muscle in your body.
Lori Emmert of All Good Healthy Fast Food also joined Real Milwaukee to whip up some quinoa with vegetables.
Recipe for Quinoa with Vegetables (Makes 3 servings):
- 1 cup quinoa
- 1 cup whole grain wild rice
- 2 tomatoes
- 1/2 cucumber
- 4 Tbsp. sweet onions diced
- 1 fresh lime juiced
- 1 Tbsp. garlic
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 tsp. sea salt
- 1/2 fresh basil
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Cook both rice and quinoa according to directions on package and let cool.
Dice tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions and set aside.
Mix all sauce ingredients together in bowl.
Combine all ingredients together, mix well and enjoy!
