Now in custody: Police say Jacob Rogers, Katelyn McGraw have turned themselves in

RACINE (WITI) -- A criminal complaint and arrest warrant were issued Tuesday for 27-year-old Jacob Rogers -- wanted in connection with the death of 27-year-old Andrew Jones. Jones was found dead inside the Allegro Apartments near Three Mile Road and Erie Street in Racine on Monday, March 2nd. Details of this alleged crime unfolded on Facebook -- and on Tuesday afternoon, Jacob Rogers was posting on his Facebook page -- seeming to confess to the crime. On Tuesday night, police told FOX6 News Rogers and his girlfriend are now in custody.

The complaint charges Rogers with one felony count of first degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon.

On his Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon, Jacob Rogers posted the following message that was later deleted: "There's the truth. I DID IT." Rogers, on his Facebook page, accuses the victim in this case of stealing money from him, saying: "Stole money n threatened the wrong person."

Racine police were called out to the apartment complex on Three Mile Road on Monday morning. There, they found Jones with multiple gunshot wounds. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hours before that, Jacob Rogers updated his status on Facebook -- saying he was looking for a roommate.

During their investigation and processing of the scene, police noticed the apartment where Jones was found was wired for video, and there was a DVR system still in the apartment. The video shows Rogers firing off a semi-automatic handgun at Jones, who was on a couch, according to the criminal complaint.

Rogers was seen on video firing off several rounds, walking away, and then turning around to fire several more rounds into Jones, police say.

Katelyn McGraw

Police spoke with a 27-year-old man who said he was in the apartment early Monday morning with Jones and Rogers, and he was awoken to the sounds of gunshots. That man told police he looked up to see Rogers with a gun and Jones on the couch after he had been shot. That man identified Rogers for police via a photo lineup.

Police continued to look for Jacob Rogers and his girlfriend -- 22-year-old Katelyn McGraw on Tuesday. Police told FOX6 News they turned themselves in on Tuesday night. Police say they surrendered near 21st and Kearney in Racine.

Racine police said this about the arrest of Rogers:

"At 8:30pm officers responded to the area of 21st and Kearney Ave. and took homicide suspect Jacob Wayne Rogers into custody without incident. Also with Mr. Rogers was his girlfriend, Katelyn McGraw. Katelyn was unharmed and brought back to the police department for questioning.

The Police Department had been in communication with Mr. Rogers (Tuesday) afternoon and evening, and negotiated an avenue for Mr. Roger’s safe surrender.

The Racine Police Department would like to thank the Racine community for its support and efforts in assisting the department with its tips, calls, and emails."

Rogers and McGraw just had a baby girl this past weekend. A source tells FOX6 News the baby girl was taken by social services.

On Facebook Tuesday afternoon, Jacob Rogers posted a message saying: "I'll surrender when they find me." Also on his Facebook page -- messages from others, encouraging Rogers to turn himself in.

That Facebook page has since been deactivated.

Police were getting calls Tuesday about possible sightings, and they stopped a bus late Tuesday afternoon. That turned out to be a false sighting.
