34-year-old Milwaukee man charged in fatal shooting of Rumeal Meatheney



MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 34-year-old Robbie Fields of Milwaukee was charged on Friday, March 13th with one count of first-degree reckless homicide for his alleged role in the death of 23-year-old Rumeal Meatheney. Meatheney suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and chest inside a home near 17th and Mineral on Monday afternoon, March 9th.

According to the criminal complaint, Fields and Meatheney got into an argument that eventually led to a punches being thrown. Witnesses indicate to police they could not what prompted the argument -- or what was being said between the two. The fight started outdoors and ended up inside a home -- where several witnesses say they heard multiple gunshots. Witnesses also say after the shots were fired, they saw Fields flee the neighborhood in his SUV.

On Wednesday, March 11th, the complaint says Fields approached a forensic investigator with the Milwaukee Police Department and said, "I need to turn myself in." When the officer asked him what for, Fields replied, "Homicide, I killed someone." He explained to the officer that it was for an incident on Mineral St. Fields was then taken into custody.

If convicted, Fields faces up to 60 years in prison.
