Coroner: 19-year-old man killed by Madison police was shot in head, torso

MADISON (AP) — A Wisconsin coroner says a 19-year-old man killed by a Madison police officer was shot in his head, torso and right arm.

The Dane County Medical Examiner released preliminary autopsy reports Friday in the death of Tony Robinson. Robinson was unarmed when he was fatally shot on March 6 by a police officer responding to a call about a disturbance. Robinson was biracial, and the officer is white.

The autopsy reports say Robinson died from "firearm related trauma," but don't say how many times Robinson was shot.

The medical examiner says additional studies, including toxicology tests, are underway. Results are expected in several weeks.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating the shooting. Attorney General Brad Schimel says he hopes to have the bulk of its findings out in two weeks.
