MILWAUKEE (WITI) — You saw it in your own yards — snow melting away because of our mild temperatures. Now, the National Weather Service offers up a cool view of the rapid snow melt from space!

The below animation shows the rapid snow melt that took place over the past week. The NWS notes the thinning of the ice cover on inland lakes including Lake Winnebago. In addition, check out the large breaks in the ice cover that covers the eastern part of Lake Michigan.
