"We come every year!" Something delicious for every sweet tooth at Buddy Squirrel's Easter Open House

ST. FRANCIS (WITI) -- 60,000 square feet of candy-making magic was on display Sunday, March 22nd at Buddy Squirrel in St. Francis. The company hosted its 29th annual Easter Open House.

Those on hand had the opportunity to see how Milwaukee's "Original Whipped Creme Eggs" are made.

Kim Benoit and her family visited Buddy Squirrel Sunday for the very first time. Skylar said she likes watching the big machines, and she couldn't wait to taste the Easter eggs.

"This is my favorite candy growing up, so having the whipped eggs and seeing how those are made -- that was my favorite part," Kim Benoit said.

Kristy Westcot and her family were among the first in line for the Easter open house.

"You only have to wait about 15 minutes if you come early enough, so it`s totally worth it and the kids love it so we come every year," Westcot said.

Once inside, folks took part in a self-guided tour of treats. Buddy Squirrel has items available that will satisfy every sweet tooth.

"The employees love it. They worked super hard this week to set all this up," Buddy Squirrel President Dick Kerndt said.

It was an opportunity for generations to see how their favorite Easter treats are made.

"They`ve been making these Easter eggs for about six weeks now to get ready," Kerndt said.

Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny were also on hand for this event, visiting with children.

Everyone who took part in Buddy Squirrel's Easter open house was given a whipped cream egg and a sample of Buddy Squirrel's award-winning caramel corn.

New this year -- Buddy Squirrel is unveiling a cookie line that is available in their confectionary kitchen at the factory.
