"My girls were rude and obnoxious:" Alabama mom apologizes on Facebook for her kids’ movie behavior

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WITI) – A moviegoer in Alabama got a personal apology from the mom of two teenage girls who were disruptive during a showing of “Cinderella.” But the apology started out as a Facebook post trying to find her.

Kyesha Smith Wood of Birmingham, Alabama, dropped off her son, daughter and step-daughter at the movies, she said in a Facebook post early Saturday morning, March 28th. The son is a teenager and the two girls are 13, according to ABC News.

She found out later from her son that the girls were rude and disruptive during the movie, and that one woman had approached them afterwards to let them know that because of her husband’s job loss, this was the last movie her family would be attending in a long while and that the girls’ behavior had ruined it for them.

So Wood took to social media to try to find the woman:



The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Facebook page shared the post, and off it went.

Eventually it reached Rebecca Boyd of Adger, Alabama, who responded that she was the woman Wood was trying to reach.

Boyd contacted Wood, who is having the girls write notes of apology and contribute their allowance money to the Boyd family’s next movie outing.

And another bright note to all this: publicity over the story has resulted in support and job offers for Boyd’s family.
