"Such a great tradition:" Archbishop Listecki hands out Easter hams, food boxes to families in need

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki is helping to make sure Milwaukee-area families can enjoy a nice Easter meal.

Archbishop Listecki helped give out 100 Easter hams on Thursday, April 2nd. This, along with 100 food boxes containing everything needed to complete the Easter meal.

The food benefits "House of Peace" families. The ministry helps families with food, clothing and health services.

Handing out food and Easter hams has become a tradition for Archbishop Listecki.

"Such a great tradition. The heart and soul of what Chrsitianity is about -- reaching out to brothers and sisters," Archbishop Listecki said.

Folks also handed out hygiene items like soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Archbishop Listecki says this is the 10th year of giving out Easter hams, and also the 10-year anniversary of Saint John Paul II's death. He says he can't think of a more fitting tribute.
