3-legged Maltese mix finds forever home, changes name to a fitting 'Amazing Grace'

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A one-year-old Maltese puppy who survived after chewing off her own back leg has found a forever home!

The young pup was found earlier this week and rushed to the Wisconsin Humane Society to undergo emergency surgery to remove her injured leg and save her life.

Since then, Mink has gained some major attention through social media, and after 70 adoption applications poured in under 24 hours, she has found a great home!

The adopter lives just outside of Madison and has worked with dogs that are blind, have needed major surgeries, and who have needed a wheel cart.

According to the adoption counseling staff, "She is beyond amazing and knew just how to approach and handle Mink. Mink loved her and by the end was playing and running circles around the blanket we put down. She has two other dogs at home, one of which is blind and the other had a liver shunt that couldn't be fixed by surgery so she is very petite.  Prior to even coming to us she already started networking and has someone who is donating a cart to Mink. I can't say it enough but she was perfect in every way for Mink."

Mink's new owner will be changing her name to none other than, Amazing Grace -- how fitting!
