Franklin police warn residents about suspicious man in red van who motioned at children

FRANKLIN (WITI) -- Franklin police are warning residents about a suspicious van driven by a man in his 60s.

Police say on Monday, April 6th, they received a call regarding a red Dodge van, 2013 or newer with no rust being driven by a white male in his 60s.

The man was wearing a baseball hat, and has no facial hair.

 

Police say he stopped on the corner of South 42nd Street and West Maplecrest Drive -- where he motioned to three juveniles ages 11, 6 and 6 to come to his vehicle.

The children did not respond and went home.  

Information obtained by police has indicated that the van was northbound on South 42nd Street when the incident occurred and that nothing was said by the driver. 

The caller further stated the vehicle had been seen in the area for the last two weeks but no further description of the vehicle or its driver were obtained.

The Franklin Police Department is encouraging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons and vehicles immediately.
