Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission rejects plan to create "regional retail" center on Keno Drive-In land

PLEASANT PRAIRIE (WITI) -- Pleasant Prairie's Plan Commission is trying to decide what to do with a big patch of land near Barnes Creek. That is where the Keno Drive-In is located.

The owner of the land wants to create a "regional retail" center.

The Plan Commission unanimously rejected that idea during its meeting on Monday, April 13th -- but there are still a couple options on the table.

The Plan Commission will take its recommendation to the full Pleasant Prairie Village Board.

"We're recommending staying with the comprehensive plan and having residential and neighborhood business, which could include the drive-in if he wants to keep that, otherwise it's a drug store, a hardware store, or restaurants -- things like that," Pleasant Prairie Village Administrator Michael Pollocoff said.

As for the future of the Keno Drive-In, the owner says it needs more than $100,000 in improvements if it's going to stay open.
